Deep Blue

It takes millions of years for the earth to create the primordial ooze that seeps out of the earth’s crust to reveal itself. This time-stacked image was taken in the Paint Pot region of Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming where the mud is anything but drab and dull. The brilliant, saturated and stunning colors are the result of iron in the mud; derived from the flecks in various states of oxidation.
