Wright Museum of Art at Beloit College selects Weller’s Piece

“Roche-a-Cri Protectors” at Beloit College

I’m honored to share that my piece Roche-a-Cri Protectors has been selected for the 67th Beloit and Vicinity Exhibition at the Wright Museum of Art at Beloit College. This work reflects the deep-rooted presence of Native nations in Wisconsin—particularly the Ho-Chunk people, whose ancestral marks remain etched into the stone at Roche-a-Cri. The overgrown forest and silent trees stand like guardians over these ancient petroglyphs, echoing stories thousands of years old. This piece, like much of my timestacked work, invites the viewer to feel the weight of time—to see not just what stands before us, but what has stood for generations.

Out of 150 submissions, only 16 pieces were chosen. I’m grateful to jurists Jody Clowes and Phoenix S. Brown for recognizing this work, and to Cassidy King, a Beloit College senior, for her help processing the final image. You’re warmly invited to the artist reception on Friday, June 6, from 5:00–6:30 PM (with awards announced at 5:30). The exhibition runs through July 26 at the Wright Museum of Art, Beloit College.
